, Screenwriting

Annika is a BAFTA-nominated and RTS-Award-winning producer with over 20 years’ experience in TV production and development. In 2012, she joined DreamWorks Animation TV, heading up their European division and serving as Senior Creative Executive. Whilst at DreamWorks, she worked across both the development and production slates, developing and managing shows from inception through to delivery in both the preschool and 6-11 space.

She has a proven track record in refreshing and reinventing classic IP such as Postman Pat, Lassie, Casper the Friendly Ghost and Noddy for new audiences and is highly experienced in working with co-production partners – an increasingly common production financing model especially in animation.

Since leaving DreamWorks in 2023, she has worked as a freelance writer, story editor and creative producer, using her extensive networks and solid reputation as an expert in the field to help writers and production companies bring their shows to fruition.

She trained as an actor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and swiftly realised that the part of acting she most enjoyed was delving into scripts. She worked for a literary agent for a number of years before moving into television. Along the way she compiled the Methuen Audition Book for Men and the Methuen Audition Book for Women and has had six children’s books published.

She regularly sits on juries for the British Animation Awards and BAFTA. She works with Animated Women UK on a regular basis and is an active mentor as well as doing outreach work for BAFTA.
